Australia’s Home Minister Resigns! Will it affect immigration?

Australia’s Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton resigns after losing leadership challenge against Australia’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
The reason behind resigning is said to be backbench rebellion widened in the past few days over a key climate change policy.
Home Affairs minister was selected to challenge the Prime Minister instead he decided to resign and work together following his defeat.
Mr. Dutton said he accepted the result and would keep on supporting the Prime Minister and the party to make sure they win the next selection. However, he won’t support another leadership challenge.
This could result in huge impact on immigration in Australia. With Peter Dutton resignation as Home Affairs Minister, it is speculated that Australia may try to invite 190,000 migrants per year as opposed to less immigration numbers under Peter Dutton rule. The new immigration target might be considered favorable for both economy of the country and migrants.
Australia has been in news lately for immigration and other news, the recent being Home Minister resigning and chances are that there might be early elections for new position. So, more uncertainty is seen for the next few months in Australia’s political and immigration scene.
Well, whatever may the case be, we hope that it does not affect the immigration rate of the country and migrants be coming in large numbers to live and work in Australia permanently.
